Dr. Chang was born in New York City and grew up on the lower east side of Manhattan. She received her Bachelor of Arts in biological science at the State University of New York at Buffalo before earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery with Honors at New York University. At NYU, Dr. Chang was chosen to participate in the highly selective Esthetic Dentistry Honors program, a clinical and didactic program focusing on smile design analysis and advanced techniques in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. Additionally, Dr. Chang was selected to assist in teaching clinical and lab techniques to dental students at NYU.
Dr. Chang’s residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY prepared her to practice advanced dental treatment in a hospital setting. During her residency, Dr. Chang gained clinical experience in anesthesiology and emergency medicine, as well as treating patients with complex medical histories.
Short-term orthodontic treatment as well as the Ti-Max Implant MaxiCourse are among the intensive program topics on her roster of continuing education completed since finishing her residency. She maintains membership with several professional organizations, including the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
In 2008, Dr. Chang returned to Buffalo and has been working in private practice since then. We welcome Dr. Chang to Winning Smiles and are thrilled to share her expertise and passion with her patients. Our team is confident that Dr. Chang’s comprehensive experience in general, cosmetic, and implant dentistry will benefit our patients, new and established, and help them achieve their healthiest smiles!
Dr. Chang is very close to her parents, two brothers, and sister, who still reside in the Big Apple. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, photography, running, and snowboarding.
“To me, dentistry is a beautiful combination of health and art that can be personalized to every individual. I love coming to work each day, educating patients on their oral health, and giving each patient the deserving smile they want. I strive to remove the fear factor involved in visiting the dentist by listening to my patients and practice gentle dentistry. At the end of the day, there’s nothing more gratifying than receiving a returned smile that I helped complete!” -Dr. Mei Kwan Chang
